The loss image compression and lossless image compression are main parts ofimage compression technology. Image compression technology with high efficiencyand real-time features is of great importance and has been an objective of science.Research in this field is not only important to the theory research but also valuable forpractical use.Lossless image compression technology is mainly discussed in this paper. Toovercome shortcomings of the existing lossless image compress algorithms, such as thelow compression efficiency, slow running speed and inability to realize real-timeimage compression, the SPIHT algorithm is improved in this paper. Moreover, theauthor participated in the design of the embedded image lossless compression systembased on DM642. At first, the basic principles of lossless image compression areintroduced, the theories and research status of lossless coding are presented, and theexisting standards and algorithms are analyzed and summarized. After that, therelevant basic concepts of wavelet transform and the integer wavelet transform basedon the characteristic of the lifting scheme are explained. Based on them, EZWalgorithm and SPIHT algorithm are studied, and the SPIHT algorithm is improved.Finally, the author participated in the design of a general-purpose embedded imagelossless compression system based on TMS320DM642 core processor. Experimentresults demonstrate that several lossless image compress algorithms can be simulatedon this embedded system which is of certain practical use.
