Along with rapidly developing image-processing technology, researching and application of outdoor vision system has rapidly increased. For instance, the need of system of automatism navigation, system of terrain sorting, system of outdoor surveillance has rapidly augmented. However, contrast of remote image if too low due to the dispersion of the air. Especially in the bad weather as fog, contrast and color of remote image will be degenerated or changed. Because many characters of image will be dark or covered under this condition, the vision system will not work well. Therefore, it has very important practical meaning for enhancing detail information from degenerate image.Firstly, discuss basic of image enhancement theory in this paper, as well as introduce typical image enhancement algorithm.And then, simulate three typical enhancement algorithms on matlab platform. The algorithms are histogram equalization, Homomorphic filtering, wavelet. And present conclusion and analysis according to the criterion of evaluating performance.And then, introduce design of hardware circuit based on DM642, program and optimize the software, debugging system. Finally, present result and analysis of real-time image enhancement.Based on the result of experiment, the system of real-time image enhancement designed in this paper is high-efficiency and high-robust, so it reaches the requirement of practical application.
