Internet and mobile communication technology are the two great achievements of information field for the past few years. Internet provides the user with massive information sources; while mobile communication makes people access the information anytime anywhere possible. WAP technologies is a globally main criteria of mobile terminal accessing wireless information services which enable wireless users surf the internet through micro-explorer such as mobile phone and Personal Digital Assistant, furnishing a more convenient information acquirement channel. With the gradual maturity of masses tourism and more frequent business travels, the portion of personal traveling, which requires more immediate information service, has increased rapidly in domestic traveling consumption. However, current mobile information services are predominantly Voice Service, which are overcharged from the customers' perspective. So in this paper, we propose a notion of mobile city information services system. On the basis of business travels' characters and requirements, WAP-based mobile information services system is to be implemented, which can make users query the information of accommodations, lodging, transportation, sceneries, shopping and recreations. In the beginning of the paper, some key technologies adopted in the system are introduced, including WAP, XML technologies, MVC open-source framework and XML database. After analyzing system features and design principles, the system overall architecture and logical structure are put forth. At last the WAP-based mobile business travel service system is designed and implemented in detail. According to system business requirements, partitioning system functions, accomplishing database design, corresponding user interfaces design are carried out. The light-weight J2EE architecture is employed as the system development infrastructure, while native XML database is adopted as the data support tool. The MVC design pattern is implemented, which improves system extensibility and optimizes the hierarchy structure.
