The rapid development of information technology and economic globalization has made great changes in social production, logistics, commodity transaction, and supply and marketing services. Modern logistics industry has sprung up all around the world. After entering the new century and with its superior geographic advantage and constant perfection infrastructure and gradual enlargement of economic operation scale and continuously increasing freight, Nantong has an urgent demand for modem logistics industry.The development of modern logistics industry in Nantong is now in its fast developing stage and there are a lot of problems and restrictions which are shown in the following points. Firstly, the industrial enterprises lack awareness of developing modern logistics industry. Secondly, the scale of logistics enterprises is comparatively small and the quantity of large logistics enterprises is rather small, so the whole level of logistics service is not high. Lastly, the level of logistics information is low. The logistics serving and demanding enterprises lack complete and unified logistics management software and the information is blocked between them. And there is no public logistics information platform universally accepted by the whole society.According to the problems in logistics practice and theoretic research above, this project takes advantage of the good logistics developing environment of the whole society and fully rationalizes and integrates the highly-developed logistics resources foundation and applies the high-developed logistics hardware resources basis (e.g.: network resources, high, railway and civil aviation resources, river port and seaport resources and the whole-city information resources, etc.). This project will be built up as the scheme strategy portal of logistical supply and demand for all industries in the region. Multiple measures will be taken and the project will be extended and applied in the whole society.Based on the thorough investigation and analysis of the logistics and transportation business in Nantong and combined with the information logistics management model, this article has proposed a logistics information platform system especially suitable for Nantong. The system uses J2EE frame and synthetically uses many advanced technologies such as MVC model, XML standardization method, which endows the system with good elasticity and generality. The article also designs a logistics information platform in outline and detail. By analyzing the module functions of the platform, the whole system platform has been realized. The result of final test has shown that the system reaches the designed requirements.The implementation of the project will be helpful to realize the interaction and sharing of resources among the industries. It is convenient for making use of the logistics resources in Nantong district, Yangtze River delta and even the whole China and also for taking advantages of the integration of the logistics industry by using this project. The project takes advantage of the integral advantage and has formed into a platform management of the logistics information. It is the important fundamental guarantee of realizing modern logistics management. By constructing logistics information platform, the comprehensive demand for information of modern logistics development will be supported. Nantong will gradually be urged to develop into an important hub city of Jiangsu Province and a combined transport hub of the Yangtze River and sea and the city competitiveness of Nantong will be greatly improved.
