At present, the technology of printed mathematical formula recognition is deficient to complex two-dimensional structure. As a kind of mathematical formula, matrix is very common in scientific documents.Because of the special structure of matrix, the current recognition systems are not very efficient for processing matrix.It would be desirable to extend further work both in the theory and practice of matrix recognition.Based on previous studies, the thesis makes research on structure analysis of matrix according to the characteristics of the matrix.At first, we locate matrix expression by the parentheses of matrix, and use the method of variable threshold to segment matrix elements. Then, the projection method and an approach of closed region-based are respectively used to analyze the row-column structures of simple matrix and complicated matrix.Finally,using the nested loop mode and the structure analysis system of ecumenical mathematical formula, we complete the internal structure analysis of matrix element. Experiment show that the proposed structure analysis method has good applicability and robustness to printed matrix.
