Photonic Crystal Fiber(PCF)is a new type of optical fiber. Because of its special structure design and optical properties, PCF has been a focus in optical fiber area in recent years. This paper introduces the research background and current development of PCF, analyzes its two kinds of transmission principle and manufacture ,as well as its application in various aspects.In this paper, it has designed two kinds of structures of PCF,and calculated some basic characteristic of PCF as well.The original jobs in research are listed as follow:Firstly ,it has introduced and contrasted several methods, which can simulate and calculate the model field characteristics of PCF. This chapter highlights the characteristics and the superiorities of the multipole method and chooses the multipole method as main method, introduces the principle of the multipole method and the equation as well as the suitable conditions.Secondly,it used multipole method to research the effect of different structure parameters on the chromatic dispersion and confinement loss and effective modelfield area of PCF. Here, the fibre core of Photonic Crystal Fiber (PCF) with hexagonal shape is solid. We gained the conclusion as follows: By adjusting the diameter (d) of air hole ,the distanceΛbetween cladding air hole ,we can effectively control some parameters such as the dispersion, confinement loss,effective modelfield area.Thirdly, it has designed a kind of PCF with double refraction.Numerical value research discovered: By adjusting the diameter (d) of air hole ,the distanceΛbetween cladding air hole and,the anisomerous stucture of x direction and y direction, we can effectively adjust the bire fringence phenomena;even can reach a result with high older of magnitude than the normal fiber does.These results provide the theoretical base for design and production of the Photonic Crystal Fiber.Finally, it has introduced the applications of PCF ,such as the PCF laser apparatus,the PCF raster, the PCF sense organ, energy transmission and the production of exceed continuous spectrum, bring forward the direction of the work for the future .
