With the popularity of three-dimensional modeling techniques, the amounts of 3D models has increased geometrically in the recent decades. And the rapid development and wide spread of the Internet makes multimedia information more convenient. Thus, it is imperative to study the theory and technology of the 3D model retrieval and develop the highly efficient 3D model retrieval systems.With the widespread using of computer graphics technology in various industries and the continuous improvement of engineering technology,engineering animation technology is gradually used.In the field of mechanical engineering, construction and so on,the using of engineering animation not only gets imagic performance of inspiration and ideas, but also shorten developing time and reduce the waste of resources of experimentation. And according to the enlarging application background of 3D model, the amount of 3D scene model is growing, so how to retrieve 3D objective model in the scene animation project is the focus of this paper.One of the core issues of 3D model retrieval is "feature extraction", and compared to character animation and other 3D animation models,3D scene model construction has more simple structure and more obvious feature. Focusing on the features, this paper's main work and innovation are as follows:1. Summarizes the existing 3D model retrieval's research and development tendency. Analysis and compares the advantages and disadvantages of the various algorithms. And draw the 3D model retrieval technology into the engineering field of animation, so that to create and use animation easily and quickly.2. Account of the model of engineering animation scene,analyzes the extractive technique of the existing 3D model's characteristic and raises a new 3D model's charac-teristic,which is based on the method of weighing and watershed.3. Under the different levels of influence of 3D model's characteristics,adopts D2 shape distribution function to construct the mixed feature vector who has weighing impact factors. And then treat this feature vector as a search factor and project animated scene as an experimental model to verificate the experiment.
