This dissertation introduced the application of RF wireless tracking receiver first and then introduced the design and experiment process of the RF receiver. The advantage and disadvantage of the super heterodyne and homodyne receive approach were analyzed and compared including the analysis of the effect of the IF on the system mirror degeneration. The system topology and the receiving approach were determined based on the analysis and comparison above.VGA, Mixer and PLL were introduced separately in the first three chapters. ADS was used to simulate the bias current, stability and impedance matching during the VGA design process. The complexity of the VGA circuit design was reduced. The differences of the dynamic range under different IF degenerations of SA605 was compared via measurement during the mixer circuit design. The matching circuit was calculated considering the matching between stages. The measurement of MAX2607 VCO was done and National Semiconductor's EASY PLL was used to design the loop filter. Through the entire RF receiver system performance measurement, the receiving resolution was -130dBm.The conclusion was achieved including the issues existing and the further solution.
