Facial animation is widely used in many application areas, such as computer animation industry, game industry, teleconferencing, agents and avatars. In recent years, it has been the research hotspot. In this field, the facial animation based on one human face image attracts many researcher's attention in recent years. This technology do geometric transforms on the human face image. It can generate may funny Visual Effects and be used to make special effects in movies entertainment and advertising design.For the facial animation based on one human face image is transformed from the real human face image, It has more sense of reality. This paper presents and implements a system of facial animation based on one human face image. It is on the basis of MPEG-4 Facial Animation Standard. Facial feature location technologies such as Human Skin Model, image warping technologies such as Mesh-Warping and Image Mosaics and Image Fusion technologies on processing mouth/eyes are used to generate facial animation, for the real-time and reality effects of facial animation. The main work and achievements of the dissertation can be summarized as follows:1. Technologies of MPEG-4 Facial Animation Standard, facial feature location, image warping image mosaics and image fusion are summarized. The advantage and disadvantage of those are discussed.2. Implemented a real-time and more natural facial animation system based of one human face image. The MPEG-4 Facial Animation Standard is simplified and applied in this 2D facial animation generating. It can auto/manual locate the facial features. Using the improved Mesh-Warping algorithm to transform the image helps to achieve the reality and real-time requirements.The main innovations of this paper are:1. In Mesh-Warping algorithms, based on the particularity of facial organ movements, a spline building method of combining global and local splines and splitting vertical and horizontal splines is proposed. The calculation time is reduced and animation is more nature.2. A human face organ image mosaics algorithm based on spline interpolation in polar coordinate is presented. It can mosaic and fusion the mouth/eyes sample images to the face image quickly. By this way, when the animation is opening the mouth, the tongue and teeth. By choosing different spline ,this algorithm is flexible to use to balance the animation effect and calculate time.3. With this image mosaics and fusion algorithm, eye balls on the sample image can be moved to the human face image to meet the special effect requirement of facial animation. After this operation, the shape of eye balls can stay the same, and the effect of eye balls'movement such as cross-eye can be generated.
