As one of the effective advanced control strategies, the Internal Model Control (IMC) is getting more and more attention and meanwhile it is being applied into practice more widely. Internal model control can achieve better effect than PID method, particularly in multivariable processes control field. Lots of theoretical research and practical applications have proved multi-inputs and multi-outputs (MIMO) IMC has many advantages, such as quick response speed, easy calculation, simple design method, great robustness, nice tracking performance and stability, and so on.This dissertation used IMC technology to design controllers, analysed the control methods of split-ring unstable time delay processes and multivariable time delay processes, and combined the fuzzy control ideology with IMC structure to design fuzzy IMC system.The basic principle, structure, character and typical design methods of IMC were discussed in the paper. An improved IMC structure was adopted to control unstable time delay processes, at the same time, fuzzy control algorithm was uesed to tune the controller parameters on line, which would improve the control quality obviously.For the square multivariable systems, five kinds of IMC design methods, namely, main loop multivariable IMC, model reduction decoupling IMC, control and decoupling integration IMC, v-norm decoupling IMC and fuzzy multivariable IMC, were analyzed and compared in detail. Furthermore, the NLJ optimizing algorithm was used to realize model reduction. For fuzzy internal control method of multivariable processes with time delay, theoretical analysis of structure, establishment of fuzzy rules and concrete realization of controller have been represented.For the non-square multivariable systems, a decoupling control method based on internal model control was proposed. The design strategy of control system and parameter tuning method were introduced in the paper. The simulation experiments have proved the availability of this method.
