With the embedded systems and wireless communication technology is developing rapidly, with embedded operating systems as a platform to build real-time file system to store data and relies on a wireless network technology to transmit data to be more widely used, especially applied to long-range wireless monitoring system business, real-time video image storage and wireless transmission technology is receiving increasing attention to the user. In the field of embedded operating system, Linux is stable, efficient and easy to customize, easy to cut, support a wide range of hardware, free, open source, and other characteristics that become a protagonist in the field.This paper combine strengths and characteristics of embedded system and GPRS wireless network, within-depth analysis and understanding of embedded technology and GPRS technology, proposed the design of the system. Aimed at providing an effective technology program for the wireless video or image monitoring system.The thesis on the following research:(1) Background of this research, a comprehensive description about the significance of the research work, introduce the history, trends, key technology of embedded systems and wireless communications technology.(2) Two key part of the embedded platform, Linux operating system and the ARM microprocessor, introduced in detail.(3) A description about the wireless transmission technology-GPRS technology, GPRS mobile terminal module, as well as specificly design the protocol of image data in the GPRS network is discussed.(4) According to the system need, then proposing a total solution of high-capacity image storage and wireless transmission.(5) Based on Linux operating system to achieve the function of image storage.(6) Combines GPRS technology for wireless image transmission.In this paper, the technology can be applied to all wireless video or image monitoring system. The system has the characteristies of low cost, stabilization and always-online, it meets the expected requirement.
