With the rapid development of Internet, network applications become more complex than ever. Besides the traditional network application such as Web,FTP,E-mail, there are many kinds of P2P application which traffic is increasing, such as transmission and communion of high-definition audio and video, download of movie, game and music. P2P applications are developing quickly in these days, and have played an important role at Internet business. The more of P2P application in campus network, the more bandwidth will be consumed, it will lead to congestion of network and reduce performance of network. Especially, when some key links can not satisfy the need of the increasing network traffic by expanding the capability, they will become the bottleneck of network. Finally, not only key applications will be affected, but also P2P applications will not be satisfied.Base on the situation, ISPs use strategies of forbidding P2P applications, or restricting the traffic of some P2P applications. These strategies have worked, but all of them are under reducing clients' service as precondition. As the matter of fact, they don't solve the contradiction between clients and ISPs.In this thesis, how to enhance the ability of ISPs to monitor and manage the network traffic, optimize network quality, make the network traffic localize and decrease the network cost are considered. Based on the research of the technology P2P, the effect on the campus network of P2P are analyzed. The measure of traffic identify of P2P is discussed. Based on the dual characters of flow and payload, a method of P2P traffic identify is provided to cope with these difficulties. Finally, a new LRU arithmetic is used and a traffic control model which includes proxy cache is designed, to provide the corresponding solution of P2P problem for the campus network.
