System testing plays an important role in software testing. The key of system testing is to design test case based on software specification. UML is a standard language for visualizing and documenting the artifacts of object-oriented software systems, which means in the context of object-oriented software systems, system testing requirements are generated from UML artifacts. This dissertation discusses how to design system test case based on UML. This dissertation design functional test cases with three levels for Gnome2.26 project, in order to demonstrate test case design technology based on UML. The efficiency of this method has been proved in this dissertation, and the software testing method in this dissertation can guide the design of system test case.Bug management is a scientific quality management technology, which can improve the quality of products and help project manager to improve their capacity of project management. In this dissertation, the theories and technologies of bug management have been discussed in detail. This dissertation also apply the technology of bug tracking and bug statistics to the practice of project Gnome2.26, discuss how to do bug statistics, which can give useful information to evaluate the testing and help project manager to make decisions on the project.
