Facing the condition of metadata store, management, inquiry in Shengli Oilfield Freet Petroleum Equipment Company Limited, basing on the pipe auto-management system process, design and collect data, through studying the metadata technology, analysis method, the metadata technique is analyzed in the following aspects in this paper following the pipe manufacture process.Fist of all, based on problems in the technological process of current pipe auto-management system, the paper determines the object of pipe auto-production system; planes metadata's collecting process and classifications rules. Definition and gathering on metadata of pipe auto-production system are done in the end.Next, the general framework of metadata storage and management on the determined pipe auto-production system is designed, which helps the system meet the data management demand for many production divisions and several production lines.Last, using the UML programs finishes the design of the pipe auto-production system based on metadata management and its approach is elaborated by analyzing and collecting metadata. In consideration of business scope and all related control levels, a design plan is mapped out for this system and its software framework is done too. Taking the management of PE pipe for example, a modeling system is achieved.Through the practice of using defined metadata to control numerous monitoring data on PE pipe, it is shown that the pipe management system based on metadata is conducive to effective management of numerous PE pipe monitoring data and convenient enquiry into monitoring data. The knowledge of small amount of index helps master the real production. The process control and operation level are improved resulting in better product. It plays a positive role in formulation of business development strategy.
