The numerical controlled machine is one kind of process control equipment, any part of the fault and failure, will cause the machine downtime, resulting in the production came to a standstill and constraints seriously affect production efficiency. Therefore, the diagnosis of numerical controlled machine is extremely necessary.The main research contents include: transformed Simens 810 system's failure diagnosis codes and hardware instruction codes to the knowledge of expert system knowledge base; and acted according to this numerical control system's characteristic to establish the power supply, CPU, RAM, display, interface and location and so on six failure diagnosis module; for more complex fault conditions is also established a diagnosis of neural network modules, and in accordance with the maintenance of human experts to guide the idea of fault diagnosis expert system inference engine reasoning process.The paper uses Visual Prolog software development the fault diagnosis expert system of numerical control system, has completed the failure diagnosis system's man-machine interface design and the procedure source code compilation work.This expert system can simulation reality's failure diagnosis service process, regarding has the breakdown code prompt, it according to breakdown prompt code or hardware instruction code diagnosis service; Regarding does not have the breakdown code prompt, It may uses the module law diagnosis module or the neural network diagnosis module diagnoses. The system according to the biggest possibility which the breakdown occurs determined that the fault point and provides the service to suggest. Regarding the difficult breakdown case which already solves, It can be added to the knowledge base through the system knowledge library's editional function, that expands the knowledge library, providing access for future maintenance of the case.
