Shoe Sole Print Database Management System

In the investigation of criminal cases, footprint and shoe print taken from the crime scenes play an important role in series and parallel case analysis. The analysis and process of shoe sole prints provide strong technical support for fight economic crimes, anti-drug law enforcement, keeping public security, control of fire, traffic management, domestic security and the work of fights against terrorism. Up to now, few police criminal technique departments have set up database of shoe prints. With manual operation, footprints can not be used like the fingerprint in the investigation of criminal cases. So, it is necessary to make full use of fast and high efficiency of computers to manage shoe sole prints automatically.After analyzing the design of Shoe Sole Print Database Management System, we describe the principle and implementation of some relevant modules. The design of the system accords with Ministry of Public Security's "Temporary Regulations for the Management of Footprint archives". Shoe prints were classified, and satisfies the requires of computer management and query of shoe sole prints. The technique is applied to criminal investigation departments of public security. The main features of this system is using classification to define shoe print, which is easy to understanding and operating, it improves the system's query speed; it has the function of full-featured image processing, which improves the utilization rate of footprint; it is easy to input, which improves the work efficiency. Based on theoretical knowledge of image processing and database, we use MATLAB, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to realize the Shoe Sole Print Database Management System. The main Function of this system are such as: image processing, graphics labeling, data input, query of shoe print, graphics statistics, shoe print output and information display.
