The Application Of Data Mining Technology In Digital Campus

The digitalizing project on campus has almost been completed by far,and a great amount of original data occurred during the process of applying management systems of all kinds. However,in routine applications,we mainly do simple data inquiries and statistics currently and the substantial hidden information resources are not analyzed at all.The data mining technology makes it possible to finish data statistics,analysis,composite and reasoning from a vast data pool, by which we can discover the inner connection of the data and thus predict and provide necessary support to daily decision-makings. The data mining technology has widely applied in the business field, and it is also possible to connect this technology with the digitalizing process on campus, so that we can analyze on the information and extract the hidden data for providing assistance in the decision-making of the administrative departments on campus, thus further enhancing the operating quality.This thesis combines the actual features of Hunan Mass Media Vocational Technical College in the process of digitalizing and analyzes the feasibility on applying the data mining technology into all kinds of fields on campus and provides detailed action plan with record management system as an example.In this action plan, the data mining process is completed based on the students' record: defining the objective and goal of data mining, data clearing and pre-processing, finishing the data separation and transforming with C4.5 algorithm, and constructing Decision Tree based on the ID3 algorithm to generate rules and assess the results. Taking the data mining technology as the tool for the analyzing results of the students, the thesis will help us understand the major facts that decide whether the students' results are positive or negative under different assessing methods, by which we could provide necessary assistance to the reform of examination system. The next step of the assessment reform will be: providing predictive information for the current assessment way: examination based on knowledge points. This system only analyzes the in-using assessing ways; however, it can be used in a wider range, like analyzing the contents, so as to provide necessary decision-making reference for future educational reform.
