Wireless sensor networks, which integrate technologies of micro-electro-mechanism, sensing, embedded computing, distributed information processing and wireless communication, lead to a new pattern of information gathering and processing. Localization, which has been focused as a fundermental problem of the research in WSN, is the precondition of many applications of sensor networks, such as target identification, surveillance and tracking. In this thesis, we discuss the localization technology in detail. On the basis of the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the existed algorithm, we proposed the localization algorithm based on mixed strategy with anchor triangularly deployed, and introduce it specifically. Then we build a simulating environment in which we simulate the algorithm proposed in this document. By comparing the results of the proposed algorithm and the ones of the Centroid algorithm and the weighted-centroid algorithm, this document reveals the advantage of the algorithm proposed in this thesis. The method of network forming of WSN localization system designed in this document was based on the application of ZigBee. The features of Zigbee, such as low-speed, short-distance and low-power, make it endow it with advantage over Bluetooth and other short-range wireless communication technologies in forming networks. Here we introduce in details the steps of designing a WSN localization system with the application of the algorithm proposed in this thesis. The introduction covers the disposing of the signal nodes, the localization program designing of the unknown nodes and the software designing of the surveillance center.
