The telecom operators reorganized and 3G license issued, the new era of telecom industry has arrived. Nowadays, with the telecommunications and network technology convergence, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) has become the focus of telecom industry. With the promotion of 3G service, there is practical significance and Commercial value to develop a new service base on IMS system. This paper researches and designs of music on demand system which basing on IMS architecture. The design depending on the context of 3G service fully expansion, developed IMS-based multimedia services: music on demand. System uses the existing communication network equipment, be able to rely on the promotion of 3G service in China and the advantages of telecom operators. This paper introduces the IMS based music on demand system, able to meet the needs of users. At the same time, the System uses the existing communication network equipment, be able to rely on the promotion of 3G service in China and the advantages of telecom operators.This paper, in accordance with IMS specifications, describes the development process of an IMS-based service. According to real life, the paper analyzes and designs the systems requirement and functions of the IMS-Based music on demand system. This paper, based on SIP protocol for the signaling flow analysis, describes the overall structure and design principles of the IMS-Based music on demand system. The music on demand system is based on the IMS network, controlled by SIP signaling, can provide users with three services: video, audio and text. There are three functional entities in the system: proxy servers (MusicProxy) , registration servers (Register) and application servers (Music). The three functional entities with the completion of the four system functions: "Listen to songs", "Singing songs", "Present songs", "Talking about songs", these stand for four functions of the system: Music on demand, Kara OK, Music for blessing and Music adviser function.The author participated in the needs of the whole system analysis and architecture design, mainly responses for database design, database interface design and implementation and work for function and design of the proxy server MusicProxy. After researching and learning IMS simulation platform SDS, simulating the network achievement of IMS in a common PC has realized, this paper also introduced the simulation platform for the IMS SDS. Research and design of IMS-based music on demand system, the system can play an active role in the promotion of research and realization for network-based IMS multimedia services.
