In recent years, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is developing rapidly. In this paper, several key technology of the RFID tag antenna are studied. The major content of this paper is as follows.First, the composition and basic principles of the RFID system, several features of the applied bands, and the relevant RFID standards are introduced. So as the basic theory of antenna, and the design and testing methods of RFID tags.Second, the characteristics of the size reducing, and the effect on the performance of the UHF band meander line dipole antenna is studied. In order to improve bandwidth, a broadband meander line dipole antenna is developed. Two matching structures is studied, which are used to design the antenna impedance matching. This paper applies the fractal theory to RFID tag antennas. It is found that tag antennas in fractal structures own a good size-reducing feature.Third, the CPW-fed folded-slot antenna for microwave band is studied. Antennas for both 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz are designed and improved. Also the impact of antenna by size-reducing is researched.Fourth, the cost of the tag is reduced in several different aspects and the impact of the antenna is studied. Tags will be subject to environmental impact. In this paper, the impact to the tag of different materials is studied. The cause of this impact studied by antenna simulation. Finally, a platform-insensitive tag antenna is proposed.
