The Research On VMGrid

At present, grid computing can implement the virtualization of diffused resources in WAN, but things are different when it faces single computing system. That is to say, it cannot implement the virtualization of single computing system like virtual machine. Some scientific applications have hard requirements on software and hardware while grid nodes aren't agile enough to adjust themselves to run these applications in time. Most of them are set up in advance. Finally it will cause the waste of computing resources. Run-time application migration and quick execution environment deployment means much to grid computing.VM Grid provides a grid middleware based on plug-in,template library technologies of virtual machine and Web 2.0 technologies (AJAX,JSP). Virtual machine is one form of virtualization technology implementation. It can not only implement the virtualization of single computing system but also improve agility and performance of grid middleware.By using virtual machine and Web 2.0 technologies(AJAX,JSP), we construct a system named VM Grid and then make some test and analysis. Function tests show that every grid node can be monitored through VM Grid portal. Grid users can also join in or quit virtual machine community freely. At last different operating systems and grid middleware can be constructed on grid nodes with virtual machines. System tests show system has a good quality of stability, compatibility and expansibility. By using services based on Ssh and plug-in technology based on virtual machine,system can support more types of virtual machines. Performance tests show virtual workspace can respond to users'basic operations effectively.
