With the continuous expansion of software in the scale, demands in the software productivity and software quality are increasing faster than ever before. Meanwhile, Component-based System Development (CBSD) has become one of great software development trends. As an independent and reusable basic unit, Business Component (BC) is the fundamental unit of component-based system (CBS). Therefore, the trustworthy of BC determines the trustworthy of CBS. However, researches on trustworthy of BC are mostly related to fields like component identification, reuse patterns and granularity optimization etc. Therefore, from the viewpoint of BC designers, this paper gives a beginning research on the assurance mechanism for the trustworthy of BC. Meanwhile, from the viewpoint of BC users, an evaluation model is given. This paper provides a method support and theory foundation for trustworthy of BC.Firstly, this paper analyses that the research on the trustworthy of BC is very significant to the development of CBS. In addition, it gives an overview of researches on the trustworthy of BC. On this basis, the whole research direction and framework are listed. Then, this paper gives the definitions about trustworthy of BC, and points out that using formal method to study the trustworthy of BC is important and useful. Secondly, from the viewpoint of BC designers, this paper proposes a concept model and essential factors to trustworth–logic and behavior trustworthy, constraint trustworthy and ability trustworthy. Meanwhile, an assurance structure for the trustworthy of BC is proposed. Finally, from the viewpoint of BC users, this paper proposes an evaluation model to evaluate the trustworthy of BC. The evaluation model is named a rank evaluation approach based on neural network (REANN ).To sum up, this paper allsidedly studies the trustworthy of BC from both sides of BC designers and users. It provides an important reference value in theory for the further researches on the trustworthy of BC.
