Since variance-constrained control theory was proposed by Skelton and his colleagues from Purdue University in the 1980s, it has attracted many researchers'interests and simultaneously made great success in practical implementation. According to our knowledge, most results for variance-constrained control are achieved for nonsingular system. However, the singular system models can more aptly describe a physical system than the linear system models. So it is very meaningful to address variance constrained control problems for singular systems. The following subjects will be studied in this dissertation:1. Robust control problem of constrained variance for uncertain continuous-time linear singular systems is studied. For all admissible uncertainties, the sufficient conditions that guarantee the singular system to meet the variance-constraint are obtained. Based on it, linear matrix inequality (LMI) technology is adopted to obtain controller.2. Robust control problem of constrained variance for uncertain continuous-time linear singular systems with pole constraints is studied. For all admissible uncertainties, the sufficient conditions that guarantee the singular system to meet the variance-constraint are obtained. Based on it, linear matrix inequality (LMI) technology is adopted to obtain controller.3. Robust control problem of constrained variance for uncertain continuous-time linear singular systems with fault-tolerance constraints is studied. For all admissible uncertainties, the sufficient conditions that guarantee the singular system to meet the variance-constraint are obtained. Based on it, linear matrix inequality (LMI) technology is adopted to obtain controller.4. Robust state estimation and filter design problem of constrained variance for uncertain continuous-time linear singular systems are studied. For all admissible uncertainties, the sufficient conditions that guarantee the singular system to meet the variance-constraint are obtained. Based on it, linear matrix inequality (LMI) technology is adopted to obtain controller.5. Robust control problem of constrained variance for uncertain continuous-time linear singular systems with H∞constraints is studied. For all admissible uncertainties, the sufficient conditions that guarantee the singular system to meet the variance-constraint are obtained. Based on it, linear matrix inequality (LMI) technology is adopted to obtain controller.
