In recent years,there are greate changes in the backbone of communication networks,but fewer in the a access network. As the fiber has the advantages of broad bandwidth, huge capability, powerful resisting jamability etc, it is very suitable to be the transport media of high- speed broadband network. Thinking of the actuality of the IP network and the ability of PON transport,EPON will be one of the main solutions to implement future broadband access network, even be the final technology to implement FTTH now. In this dissertation, some key technologies in EPON system are investigated, including study on structure, MPCP protocol,and band allocation algorithm, especial focused on band allocation schemes of EPON up channel. The major achievements are as follow.In the article, comparing strengths and weaknesses of various algorithms in theoretical analysis, based on the existing bandwidth allocation algorithm about SBA and DBA, We can make a conclusion that in case of heavy load system throughput compared impressive, but in the case of light load system throughput will not be considerable, from the simulation result. IPACT algorithm is a classic DBA arithmetic, based on a "request-authorized- send", humanistic bandwidth allocation, but this kind of "human nature" has a variety of authorization ways. In order to compare Limited, Grant, Credit, Fixed and so on the way, this dissertation, simulation tests compared with their advantages and disadvantages.Finally, based on a serie of simulation and sum-up theory, this paper improves bandwidth allocation algorithm and provides EGS-P and HLT algorithm. This is a distillation of the full page, which integrates all the theoretical knowledge. The Simulation result proves its effectiveness.In this paper, there are An innovative, inspired by the current open-source, have the hope of creating a professional EPON simulation platform, of course, this also needs to do a lot of hard work and after works. This is a simulation based on the DOT NET platform, although this does not like MATLAB or OPNET, which has much operations transparent to user, but they have its advantages, both in front of theirs do not have, such as the bottom of the enviorment can "tailore" to make the simulation more humanistic. We can get interesting data directly into their platform development, rather than through third-party tools, but complete relatively more complex.
