With the all-round development of 3G networks, the bottleneck of mobile video telephony is resolved gradually. 3G-324M, which is the 3GPP specified multimedia communication recommendation on 3G circuit switched network, is the only international standard for 3G mobile phone's video telephony service up till now. So it will have a good prospect of application with the development of 3G network.The rapid development of computer network brings tremendous change to various fields all over the world, among which the multimedia communication technology based on IP network provides a convenient and cheap way to people's long-distance communication. H.323 protocol is a multimedia communication standard ,which is designed and specified by International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) specially for packet-switched network. H.323 is based on TCP/IP, and supports both real-time encoding and transmission of video, audio and data on the same network.The video internetworking between 3G and fixed network has clear and huge market requirements. First of all, it can cement the video customers of the fixed network and promote the value of the fixed video network. Second, making use of the maturity of video concept on fix network can speed up the market penetration from 3G video business to fixed network video business. Finally, video internetworking would converge the demand of the two network, as well as aggregate the user of the two network, so as to build platform for making profits.In this thesis, the author propose the total solution of video internetworking between the two different network, basing on the deep research and analasis of the 3G-324M mobile video communication and the H.323 video communication based on IP network. VIG is a video Gateway which is the internetworking device between 3G-324M and H.323 vidio communication system. In this thesis, we give the solution of vedio internetworking between 3G-324M and H.323 based on the VIG. The main research works and achievements of the thesis are as follows:1) The mobile video communication system based on 3G-324M and its main protocols such as multiplex/demultiplex protocol H.223 and media control protocol H.245 are studied deeply.2) The H.323 video communication system based on IP is studied.3) Based on the comparition of 3g-324M and H.323 video communication system, the internetworking scheme of these twe system and the architecture of internetworking gateway( VIG) which is based on the principle of seperating load from control and the indepence of modules are proposed. The function modules of VIG is design.4) The thesis focuses on the design and implementation of the main function of the video internetworking system of 3G-324M and H.323 (H246). The main function of this module is as follows:(A) internetworking between 3G-324M and H.323 system in the level of call control;(B) intenetworking between 3G-324M and H.323 system in the level of media control;(C) being responsible for the sutup, modify and teardown the IP load bearing at the side of MUX terminator and H.323 and implementation of the internetworking between 3G-324M and H.323 system in the level of media load bearing.
