With the development of computer and the automated measurement technology, the relationship between measuring instrument and computer become more and more closer. Many computer scientific and technological achievements are quickly applied to measurement and instrument area, and combination with computer has became an inevitable trend for the development of measuring instrument and automatic testing system. Highly integrated field programmable gate array is the result of development of the very large scale integrated circuits and computer-aided design technology. Because FPGA device contain these advantages such as high integration, small size, using computer-based develop platform, implementing the functions of specialized hardware with the method of programming, it greatly promote the single-chip digital system design and automation, reduce the design cycle of system-chip digital system, and improve design flexibility and reliability.This paper studies the design and implementation of ethernet-based data acquisition system. With FPGA as system hardware platform and uClinux as software system platform, the study completes the function of signal acquisition and remote network access.From the two aspects of software and hardware, this paper elaborates the design about the FPGA-based data acquisition device hardware system and the uClinux-based device driver design and application programming.From the hardware side, this system which uses Spartan series XC3S500 chip by Xilinx Inc uses verilog HDL Hardware Description Language to achieve FPGA programming by Xilinx's ISE computer-aided design software. CoreConnect technology which uses OPB bus to integrate digital logic circuits together such as the microprocessor MicroBlaze, data memory, program memory, ethernet control and digital-to-analog converter controller form a programmable system-on-chip. The highlight advantage of FPGA-based SOPC design is not necessary to replace the chip in order to improve or upgrade design, at the same time, it can reduce cost and improve reliability.Form the software side, for better and more effectively management and expanding the system, this paper transplants the uClinux onto the MicroBlaze soft processor, designes and implements the ADC device driver and data acquisition applications. Through amendment to the kernel, it accesses the data collected by data acquisition program using ethernet TCP/IP prtocol.
