For the requirement of display in portable devices such as mobile phone increases Continuously, in this paper, the technology of 2D graphics hardware-aceleration engine's design and optimization is analysed and discussed, and a 2D graphics hardware-acceleration engine which can support high-quality games such as GBA game has been designed and implemented based on the drawing method of VBA which is a simulator of GBA.This thesis does the research and development in the following fields.GBA graphics mode's three major characteristics and functions of the various color effect is expatiated.The work flow of VBA is analysed, and the division technique of 2D engine's software and hardware is discussed based on the analysis of VBA's work flow.For AMBA bus architecture, the overall framework of 2D graphics hardware- aceleration engine is put forward, in this framework, the speed, area and bus band width are optimized.2D engine is divided into several modules such as Apbslave, DMAinterface, Modesel, Screentext, Screenrot, Sprites, Window and LCD Controller, in this paper, the technology of design and optimization of 2D graphics hardware-acceleration engine's various modules is discussed in detail.The verification method based on reference model was used to verify the function of 2D engine's modules adequately based on the complete accuracy of VBA. The result running in FPGA shows that 2D graphics hardware-aceleration engine designed in this paper function completely correct, the drawing speed is ten times faster than that of VBA simulator.The 2D graphics hardware-acceleration engine designed in this paper has been tested and verified correctly, can support games such as GBA efficiently and speed up the processing of graphics efficiently with low power consumption, it could be used to different graphical user interface according to different requirement to provide graphics accelerator effectively.
