Research On Study On The Vehicle License Plate Recognition Technology

The computer can identify the plate number automatically without influencing the vehicles' state, so it can reduce the complexity of the work of traffic management.Study on the vehicle license plate recognition technology has played an active role in many traffic related questions, such as: charging automatically in tollgates without stopping, the measurement of traffic flux control target; automatic recognition; automatic accident report in expressways, checking without stopping , location; guard against theft; check and track vehicles' irregular and illegal behaviors; maintain traffic safety and social stability; avoid traffic jam; speed service in tollgates, ease the traffic intensity.This article, firstly, introduces the background knowledge and meaning of carrying out the subject of car license identification technology, expounds the general situation of its development at home and abroad. It also surveys the buildup of the car license identification system and structure of the main hardwares, analyzes and compares the trigger mechanism of car license identification. At last it cites the relationship between the forms of the trigger mechanism and its application fields.Secondly, this article expounds the main technologies of car license identification, character segmentation and identification respectively, introduces the ordinary methods for car license identification, analyses the characteristics of template matching and perpendicularity projection, especially expounds the different standards of template matching in character identification in details.By using the method of connecting of template matching and perpendicularity projection to orient the car license identification technology, which is due to the connection of mathematic morphology and the features character margin.Lastly, it concludes the deficiency of the car identification technology, brings out suggestion to improve this technology.
