The extraction and modeling of city real 3D information in the GIS environment is currently an important direction of GIS application and development. The GPS/BD Guided Hyper-Dimensional Real-Scene Acquisition System researched and developed by East China Normal University is an advanced system which has a quick access to high-precision ground and features information through multi-sensor. It represents a collection of GPS technology, BD Guided technology, dynamic pose measurement inertial navigation system, laser technology and image Acquisition System. It can acquire a variety of 3D information through the ground vehicle platform instantly. How to use these data to extract city 3D information and modeling has great significance on urban construction and urban planning areas.In this paper, we took the GPS/BD Guided Hyper-Dimensional Real-Scene Acquisition System as the study object, summarize the development and research progress of vehicle data acquisition platform, described the importance of the introduction of BD Guided in vehicle platform. How to make use of data collected by the system, especially the laser data, and data extraction and modeling of 3D information were studied and discussed. A case was given finally on transformer substation in Minhang Campus of East China Normal University, showing the course of extracting 3D information from laser data and the 3D modeling with laser information. Main contributions of this paper include:1. Analyzing and comparing these 3D information extractions and modeling methods, the method of laser-based 3D information extraction and modeling was selected to do this research.2. Finish handmade 3D modeling of Minhang Campus of East China Normal University, which provided the basis of 3D result in follow-up study.3. Extraction 3D information with laser data, realization of assistant modeling methods and course, and successfully calculating height information of constructions with laser data, with semi-automatic mapping in addition, which all help to step out on automatic extraction of 3D information and modeling.A certain degree of exploration of GPS/BD Guided Hyper-Dimensional Real-Scene Acquisition System 3D application of data was made in this paper, which could be used for reference later.
