Research On Performance Monitoring Method Of HLA/RTI Simulation System

With the promotion of computer and related supporting technology,computer simulation,especially the distributed interactive simulation(DIS),undergoes an unprecedented development.As a sort of DIS,High Level Architecture(HLA) is widely used,and Runtime Infrastructure(RTI) is the implementation of the HLA.DIS has the characteristics of geographic distribution and frequent data exchange;therefore,monitoring some performance data can gain and monitor system performance information,so it is significant for simulation application.The main contents of the dissertation are listed as follows:(1) Domestic and foreign research state-of-the-art of the HLA/RTI and performance monitoring is overviewed.At first,domestic and foreign research status of the HLA/RTI is surveyed,and then the research about performance monitoring is summed up.(2) Some performance data indexes of simulation system are defined.Firstly,all RTI performance indexes are presented,and then system performance data are defined based on the RTI data exchange performance,which include system throughput, system lost rate and system latency and depict each aspect of the system.(3) A method called "proxy federate based"monitoring is proposed.In order to test the RTI performance data indexes,master and slave test federates are added to the system and the threshold of the system performance is set according to the above data.Meanwhile,a proxy monitoring federate is added and the FOM/SOM data is parsed,which receives the system attributes and interactions to monitor the system performance real-timely.When the indexes of system performance exceed the above settings,the monitor would give the alert information.(4) A method called "code instrumentation" monitoring is put forward.The code instrumentation technique is introduced to system performance data monitoring. Firstly,the instrumentation process of RTI key services is given and then the performance log file format is defined and the unification and analysis process of sub-log files is also given;At last,the qualitative differences between the federate-based monitoring method and code instrumentation monitoring method is presented.(5) A proto-type system is introduced at the end of the dissertation and it can monitor the HLA/RTI-based system throughput,system latency and system lost rate.
