| Mobile Digital TV (MDTV) will be the hot new features following color screen, cameras, MP3, MPEG-4 functions in cellular phones. In the world, the mainstream MDTV standards are T-DMB, DVB-H, ISDB-T and MediaFLO, etc. And in China, on the one hand, there are also several local MDTV standards, such as the DAB(T-DMB), CMMB, T-MMB, CDMB, DMB-TH, all are in the debate; on the other hand, not only the current domestic but also the foreign TV handsets in the markets almost support single standard only, such as T-DMB, ISDB-T or DVB-H etc. In fact, which standard will eventually become the mainstream of the domestic market is not clear yet. So, only supporting single standard TV handset is bound to put a lot of risk. With regards to the price of the TV handset which is rare in the market, it is too expensive for the customer to afford, which is the obstacle to the development of the MDTV market. Thus, it is very important to the MDTV industrial chain if we can work out a multi-standard compatible, low cost but cost-effective TV handset.Firstly, This paper describes the coexistence of several major standards of the mobile digital TV in the world. Meanwhile, this paper discusses how to achieve a variety of TV standards compatible in smartphone designs from the system design and industrialization of point of view, including the evaluation and the selection of solution, the analysis of the main technical problems and countermeasures and other issues concerned in the progress of industrialization. In this paper, the innovation point is how to realize the optimization and improvement of the design, mainly in three aspects as follows:(1) At present, the mobile digital TV standards are too many kinds and they can not be compatible with each other, this article discusses how to achieve more standards compatible in one handset design, for example, the handset has a widely compatibility for T-DMB, DVB-H, DVB-T,ISDB-T and DAB, which are popular in the world.(2) Thanks to that there are still many uncertainties in the source coding of the MDTV standards, for instance, which video standards will be adopted? H.264, VC-1 or AVS? And which audio standards will be used? AAC+, BSAC or DRA? The future standards upgrading risks will be exist if we use hardware codec to fulfill the audio/video decoding, thus, the flexible software decoding method will be the best way to solve the compatibility of the standards in the future.(3) In addition, the current TV handset is too expensive, which will seriously hamper the popularity of the terminal market and which will be obstacle to the growing of TV handset industrial chain. This article discusses how to realize the cost-optimal and reliable design on the point view of industrialization and system. From hardware to software programmes for selection, are in a cost-effective products maximize the guiding principles, thus making the research also has strong practical significance. |
