Wood nondestructive technology is a new and comprehensive wood testing technology. On the condition of nondestructive appearance and structure of wood, testing internal defects of wood correctly, it is an effective method to utilize forest resource, and it is significant for selecting wood scientifically. X-ray testing method was chose to detect wood inner defects. The difference of X-ray intensity after exposure was tested in order to judge weather the defect of wood exit or not. The image was accepted by an image acceptor on the other side of the wood, and stored to the computer after digital processing. We use computer digital image processing technology and fuzzy theory to process the wood image of inspecting by X-ray, process the defects images effectively such as hollow and rot.The object of this article is the wood images of inspecting by X-ray that are digitized, and the images contain lots of nose, so the images should to be preprocessed. Firstly, preprocessed the wood X-ray images, the methods included histogram equalization, smooth filtering, image enhancement and so on. Effects of wood X-ray images were better and more suitable for later processing.Comparability and uncertainty are ubiquitous between the object and background, because of various factors in the process of image-forming. In the case of bad contrast and fuzziness of the wood X-ray images, the application of fuzzy analysis is more coincidence with characteristics of the actual images, and we can get better effects. Finally discuss the fuzzy process of the wood X-ray image, we use fuzzy enhancement to process the hollow and rot images. In the case of bad contrast and fuzziness of the wood X-ray images, we discuss the fuzzy C-means clustering (FCM) emphatically, and apply the FCM to the wood X-ray image segmentation. The algorithm has obtained better effect. They are also suitable for detect other common wood defect type. Therefore, a new theory method in analysis and processing of wood defect image is proposed in the paper.
