Education-Robot is an important means to cultivate talents in information and automation fields.A MERV(Multi-function Education Robot based on Vision) was designed in this paper,it relates to image process algorithms's development,modular design,motor driven,data transfer,robot self-positioning and so on.Vision system is one of the technical difficulties in MERV design,the high speed vision algorithm on the low performance architecture is the most important innovation. In this paper,we use low performance components to lower the difficulty in study and system cost.In software we use the RGB model which does not fit traditional image processing,put forward some efficient algorithms in image filtering,color identify and image understanding,and explored a reasionable sequence in which partial image filter is placed after color identify."Multi-functional" is another important innovation,it benefits from the modular design ideas.In the paper,system is divided into several modules according to the modular design idea,and designed a flexible interface circuit,and each module was programmed independently to ensure the module's independence,so,many robots with special function can be easily assembled with MERV.The MERV has a wide prospects due to it's common architecture,low learning difficulty and economical design.It not only applicable to primary users to study,but also can serve as a continue development platform for advanced Engineers.
