532nm laser-pumped extracavity solid-state Raman laser based on barium nitrate crystal was discussed from theory and experiment. The theory of SRS was analyzed. A description of some features of barium nitrate crystal growth process was presented and the physical, chemical and optical properties of crystal was analyzed. The experiment system of barium nitrate crystal SRS was built. An experiment of 532nm laser-pumped barium nitrate crystal SRS was completed by this system. The distribution situation and dispersion directions of Stokes were observed and analyzed. Every Stokes was collected by a spectrometer. The Raman threshold value and the gain coefficient of per Stokes were measured and calculated.A spectroscopical device was designed. The energy, conversion efficiencies, pulse compressions and polarization of every Stokes were measured and calculated. The theoretical analysis were in accordance with the experimental ones.A calculation model of the extracavity solid-state Raman laser was built and simulated by Matlab software. The design parameters and project for the extracavity solid-state Raman laser based on barium nitrate crystal with wavelengths of 563nm or 599nm was designed.
