Smart home is the development trend of the future home. It connects all kinds of electronic and electrical equipments at home by network to implement the intelligent management, remote monitoring and resource share of these equipments and the home environment. The aim of smart home is that to provide people with a safe, comfortable, efficient and convenient living environment. However, smart home system in our country is in a developing stage, lacking uniform standards and authoritative products. In view of this condition, the paper designs the smart home remote monitoring system based on ZigBee and embedded web technologies.The paper first elaborates the development status and trends of smart home in domestic and aboard, shows the significance and main contents of the subject, then brings up the scheme of constructing the home LAN by the ZigBee technology according to the communication characteristics of home network. In order to implement the remote monitor for home system, the embedded internet technology is adopted in the paper.The monitoring system of smart home is made up of three parts: remote PC, embedded web server and the electrical terminals with wireless communication module. The web server is the control center of the entire system, it implements the function of connecting the wireless LAN and the internet. ARM S3C2410 processor is selected as a kernel in the hardware construction of the Web server, FLASH, SDRAM, Ethernet Controller, CC2430, JTAG and RS232 interface are also applied externally in the system. Using Linux as embedded operating system, the web server Boa is set up after modifying and transplanting BootLoader--VIVI and Linux. The system uses the mode of B/S to implement remote access, so the static monitor and control homepage and dynamic CGI interface program are written by the embedded CGI technology. The SPI driver is also written to implement the data exchange between web server and ZigBee coordinator. And write the applications of ZigBee terminal and coordinator to build wireless network and achieve inter-network communication. After finishing the establishment of the whole system, users can login the monitor page of embedded web server by IE explorer of the remote PC, then inquire the information, control the status of the home appliances by clicking the button on the page.The paper tests the overall system performance through simulating the monitor of water heater and air conditioner in laboratory condition. The results indicate that the system achieves the anticipated design goal.
