In the industry automation project, it's needed to upload the equipment data in plant area, like the water plant production site that uses many kinds of measurement equipments. The data uploading usually uses asynchronous serial communication as the data transmission ways to send data to the main computer. In the middle-small plant, as the communication protocol varies from different equipments and their serial ports are used for data transmission, it's almost impossible to use their COM ports for data uploading any more. That's why it's needed to develop a special kind of multiprocessor communication method. In the Luo Yuan and De Hua water plant automation projects, the author's advisor has preliminarily proposed an idea that using serial EEPROM as its core for multi-microprocessor asynchronous serial data collection and successfully developed the hardware and software which used this idea to complete the projects. This paper discusses the theory and scheme of this innovative idea generally, furthermore studies the conditions and approaches to realize the idea, make summary of time sequence, content and protocol detail for the special bus used in this idea, which is named as DEBUS for Data Exchange BUS Using Serial EEPROM as its Core. This paper still puts forward the definition of the"Mailbox Memory". The author has designed the experimental hardware platform, developed the programming codes and superordinate computer debugging software to take the experiments to testify the new definition of DEBUS, Conflict Checking, Post Protocol, and the"Mailbox Memory"method, estimated the maximum transmition speed and number of the microcomputers the DEBUS can handle. The results of the experiments has been proved that the DEBUS can satisfy the requirements of industrial site data collection, be suitable for the moderate scale industrial site, and be able to implement the new scheme used for different communication datum collection.
