The transmission line matrix method (TLM) about the design of the shielding of the secondary equipments in power system is mainly researched in this paper. Firstly, the principles of electromagnetic shielding and the simulation of the propagation of the electromagnetic waves with TLM method are analyzed in theory and the feasibility of using TLM method to analyze the shielding effectiveness (SE) of the shielding body is researched. Secondly, TLM method is used to calculate the SE of the shielding body with different parameters and different structures, especially the structures of lapping joint and riveting which are used commonly in practical engineering are analyzed. Thirdly, the numerical and experimental method both are used to verify the correctness and the accuracy of the method used in this paper. Finally, some measures for the design of the shielding body of the secondary equipments in power system are presented on the previous calculation and analysis. These measures are according to the special environment in which the secondary equipments in power system are put.
