Typical failures of Asynchronous motor include rotor broken bars, stator winding short-circuit and bearings failure, and bearings failure account about 38%, it is one cause of motor vibrating. So it is necessary to diagnose bearing failure and develop the vibration fault detection system for motor. First this paper describes typical failures of Asynchronous motor and diagnosis method based on vibration signal. According to the actual situation, fault detection system for motor vibration is designed. It is composed by accelerometer, portable data acquisition, collector setting and data communication software and rolling bearing fault diagnosis software. Rolling bearing fault diagnosis software is compiled by LabVIEW7.1, including database management module, characteristic frequency calculating module, vibration signal analyzing module in time domain, vibration signal filtering module, envelope demodulation module, shock pulse analyzing module, and the help module. After practical application, the system can extract the fault characteristics and diagnose the fault of the rolling bearing effectively, and complete vibration fault detection for motor.
