Vibrating wire sensor is a instrument used to measure physical quantities such as pressure, displacement,etc. It widely used in automatic monitoring systems for water power engineering,geotechnical engineering and large machine. Therefore how to develop vibrating wire sensor with high precision and stability is the research focus. there are many factors which affect the performance of sensor, temperature is just one of the most important factors.This paper aims at finding the efficient temperature compensation method for vibrating wire sensor. Synthesizing the advanced technology in China and abroad for vibrating wire sensor, a temperature compensation system based on neural network is developed. A new approach using BP network to compensate the temperature is proposed and the temperature compensation module is built by MATLAB, which can process the output data of sensor by data fusion to obtain the high precision output and realize temperature compensation. In order to operate the system more easily and provide an friendly human machine interface, the temperature compensation system based on BP network for this sensor has been developed under labview circumstance.The result of experimental data fusion process showed that this system can minimize the temperature error ,and improve the accuracy and stability of the sensor. It also proved that using neural network to compensate temperature of vibrating wire sensor is an efficient approach and will be applied widely.
