Senosor nodes are characteristic of low-cost, low-power and multifunction. Generally, large quantities of sensor node deployed in target location can form a wireless sensor network(WSN) by self-organizing. Due to the low cost solutions and the convenience of collecting information, WSNs are gaining extensive application. But WSNs frequently interact with sensitive data or operate in hostile unattended environments, it is vital that these security problems in WSNs are concerned. However, WSNs suffer from many constraints, including limited resources, the utilizing of wireless channels, unattended operation and susceptibility to physical attack. These constraints make security in WSNs a challenge. Key management is the core of security issues and plays an important role in the security achievement. Therefore, it is significant to propose the appropriate key management scheme. This paper researches on the key management scheme and includes the following contents:Firstly, this paper investigates various key management schemes in WSNs and presents a survey of key management issues in WSNs. The main content include categorizing the existing key management schemes, analyzing and comparing the typical schemes, evaluating and summarizing their mainly existing problems.Secondly, this paper proposes a random key predistribution scheme based on Pigeonhole principle and HASH function. In our scheme, pairwise keyss is established through keys pre-loading phase and pairwise key generation phase, which are used to ensure the perfect network connectivity and generate distinct pairwise keys between any neighboring nodes respectively. Compared with existing typical schemes, the proposed scheme can provide larger network size supporting, complete network connectivity and better resilience against node capture attack.Lastly, this paper proposes an efficient key management based on the heterogeneous network structure, Rabin scheme and key perdistribution. The proposed scheme can establish pairwise keys to security the communication between nodes. Compared with similar schemes, our cheme releases the assumption of prior knowledge of sensor deployment location and performs better resilience with low-computation overhead. Specially, the proposed scheme has an evident advantage over other key schemes in memory overhead aspect.
