The Research On Regional Cultures Of Chinese TV Talk Shows

TV talk show is one of the prevalent forms in TV program making. Researches into the styles, content and hosts of TV talk shows have been made in the academia, which has born plentiful fruit. However, it is rare to observe the shows from the viewpoint of regional culture. TV talk shows can attract most viewers due to its abundant and profound cultural meaning .The cultural background plays an important role in birth and development of TV talk shows.This thesis based on the situation longitudinally compares China's TV talk shows in different periods and interprets the features embedded in the shows. By the means of case study, the thesis analyzes the TV talk shows in regions like Hunan, Hong Kong and Northeast as to conclude a complete understanding about the relationship between modern China's regional cultures and TV talk shows, and summarize the disciplines to some extent. This is for providing an objective example for broadcasting researchers and helping them carry on the subsequent studies.This thesis is based on theoretical production and basic principles of journalism, sociology, mass communication and psychology. To begin with, it gives the definitions of TV talk shows and cultural region and the state of China's talk shows and academic development. Secondly, this thesis divides the history of China's TV talk shows into parts and analyzes the respective features. Then, it draws a conclusion on factors promoting the shows. Take the ones of Hunan, Hong Kong and Northeast for examples, profound analysis and summary will be given for the features of the shows in diverse regions. Finally, analyzing the problems rooted in the shows in terms of regional cultures, this thesis pinpoints the shortcomings like indifference of regional cultural features, lack of originality and creativity but much plagiarism, weak sensitivity and delayed material selection , Low-grade, shallow depth and moral deficiency. According to existing problems, the thesis gives the suggestions for the future triumph for China's Talk shows such as valuing the regional culture's advantages, perfecting the topics'orientation for the audience's inner demand, and paying attention to the local cultural characteristics when talk shows introduced interregional. At the end of paper itself, it explains its overall meaning and available shortages.
