With the fast development of science and technology, more and more electronic communication techniques are equipped in vehicle to help the driver to safely maneuver his vehicle, such as Parking Distance Control (PDC) and Parking Video System. Recently, a wide view image system for vehicle assistant driving is attracting people's attention. In the system, 6 fisheye-lenses cameras are fixed around which can cover whole angle of the vehicle. The 6 images token by each camera at the same time can view the earth area around the vehicle with 360°view angle, and then are displayed on the screen panel in front of the driver. This system can assist the driver to easily see if there are obstacles around his vehicle.This paper concentrates on studying the implementation method of the wide view image system and its key techniques, which include: (1) to set up a model of the cameras'system, which convert the 6 side view images into the bird view images of the virtual camera hanged over the vehicle, (2) to develop the algorithm of fisheye lens distortion correction, (3) to mosaic the 6 bird view images, and (4) to build the experimental setup for experiments.The experimental results show that both the algorithm of fisheye lenses correction and the algorithm of image mosaic are effective and time-saving.
