As a newly technology, virtual reality has expand its application scope from military-oriented application to numerous fields, such as aerospace, design, manufacture, entertainment etc. Virtual reality was considered as a future technology by many experts. But VR research is at beginning stage in domestic at present, far drop behind to overseas. Under such background, studies in this field have the very significance.Based on the actuality of VR application system, software engineering and human-computer interaction theory, combining with computer graphic theory and virtual reality technology, a virtual surgery system was constructed. This paper had done a lot of research focused on the problem of collision detection and deformation of soft tissue in surgery simulation. A method based on AABB bounding boxes was introduced in this thesis. It used AABB bounding boxes collision detecting as the first step and detecting polygons as the next step to find the polygons. This way had much improved the accuracy of the system. To the problem of soft tissue deformation, a spring model was introduced and this paper simplifies the algorithm used in the deformation of soft tissue which is much faster than FEM method. Some ways of choosing the controlling point during the deformation of soft tissue were also provided. This paper simplifies the algorithm used in deformation of soft tissue which is faster than FE methods. This paper has much positive meanings to surgery simulation.
