Nowadays the Internet has been mainly used for data retrieval and service access rather than just communication among stationary hosts. As the trend of data replication and migration grows, the development of the Internet would be more inhibited in the area of data mobility and security by DNS name resolution structure and the mechanism which use addresses instead of names to identify network objects. This paper proposes a data-oriented Internet routing architecture which routes directly on nodes and data's flat names, and inherently supports endpoints mobility, data replication and migration. DOIRA takes data and service as first class objects like endpoints while considering endpoints as aggregations of data and service logically. It gets rid of IP addresses and Reference Resolution Server (RRS) such as DNS we used now. If data replicate in or migrate to another server or a server changes its location, all need to do is updating routing tables in relevant routers. To improve mobility of endpoints, data and service, DOIRA uses unique names to identify these network objects. With regarding to security, the self-certifying names can prevent spoofing, and meanwhile not using the hierarchic structured DNS making the Internet less vulnerable to DoS attack. In this paper, JProbe is used to test the memory cost and performance stability of DOIRA node which is implemented with virtual router, NS2 is used to simulate and evaluate the performance of DOIRA routing protocol. Through these data we analyze the feasibility of DOIRA and prove it can provide an extendable and secure framework with simple routing mechanism for future Internet.
