With the rapid development and the popularity of Internet,the user on the Internet wants to have better collaboration,and people hope to participate in the network of their own accord more.The traditional network model can not satisfy all needs.P2P technology breaks the traditional model called client/server,and P2P networks enables network operating mode from a centralized to distributed,the core of network application changed from server to each network node.Each node in peer-to-peer network is not only to act as a server which provides services to other nodes,but also act as a client to enjoy the services provided by other nodes.JXTA is designed as an open network computing platform to do the calculation of P2P,and it provides a set of open protocols and open sources to the P2P applications.The thesis has studied and researched the P2P and JXTA technology,analyzed the demand for instant communication system and designed the overall structure of instant communication system based on JXTA.The thesis has designed format for message and implemented text chat function by using pipe,and then implemented function for searching user by researching peer discovery protocol and shared resource distributed index service.The functions of document transfer by using JXTA socket and member manage by implementing member ship service have been achieved.After researching,a fully distributed instant communication system can be implemented without problem.The paper is used to be a guider for the realization of the P2P application based on JXTA.
