The application of automatic identification technology for license plate in intelligent transport system is the inevitable trend of development,and plays a very important role to the rapid development of the national economy.Automatic identification system consists of image processing module,plate positioning module,characters division module and characters recognition module.The most important part is characters recognition technology,there is great progress in English characters and digital recognition,but because of the particularity of china license plate,Chinese characters recognition technology is the very important study topic,is also a difficult problem in automatic identification system.The paper do research about the theory arithmetic of the Chinese characters recognition,improve on original arithmetic,improve the efficiency of the recognition.The main content contains:(1) The pretreatment of the license plate image:before recognize the Chinese characters in the license plate,it is needed to do some pretreatment work.Firstly,the license plate image is pretreated to wipe off the yawp.Secondly,it is needed to positioning the plate, dividing up the characters.Finally,the characters which is divided up is normalized,including gradation normalization and size normalization,make preparation for the matching.(2)Chinese characters image characteristic distilling:the Chinese characters is recognized base on the synthetical characteristic of Chinese character projection image.It not only uses the projection on the X axis and Y axis,the stroke pixel of the Chinese character, but also adds the tilt projection characteristic and the symmetrical projecting,improve the recognition rate of the original arithmetic.(3) Classification implement design:collecting and classifying all the characteristic information,compose a determination tree.Every note represents a determination standard (Chinese character characteristic),the Chinese character the note represents is determination result.Based on the above principles and methods,with the development platform of VC++6.0, program,and produce automatic recognition software of license plate including the Chinese character recognition.
