Cashier Desk Video Surveillance Systems In Small Supermarkets

Recently,small supermarkets have developed rapidly with the residents' life quality raising.The open-shelf and the 24-hour business brings some convenience to customers,but it also brings a hidden trouble for loss prevention.There are many reasons that can make supermarkets suffer loss,and the proportion of the loss,which caused by cashier cheating,is high.In order to decrease the loss,cashier desk video surveillance system gets extensive application in the supermarkets,which can monitor the behavior of the cashier all the day,but the effect is not obvious.It is because that if there is something happened,it needs to verify from all the intraday video and bills,the workload is large.To solve this problem,a cashier desk video surveillance system is designed in the paper,which can combine the surveillance video with the time of each transaction and each customer passes by cashier desk.If there is something happened, the operators only need to look over the video which has transactions or customers to improve efficiency.Firstly,the basic requirement of the system design is analysed in the paper.The assignment of the design includes three parts:(1)Recording each transaction time. (2)Recording the time when customers passed by cashier desk.(3)Replaying the surveillance video according to the recorded time.Then the hardware structure of the system is introduced,including the cash register and video capturing system.The former is used to obtain time of each transaction,the latter is used to detect whether there are customers passeing by cashier desk.There are five modules in the system software design:(1)Database management module,which is used to record and query the time of each transaction and customers arriving and leaving the cashier desk respectively.(2)Image display and storage module, which is used to real-time display and store image.(3)Serial communication module, which is used to obtain each transaction time.(4)Moving object detection module,firstly determining the size of detection area,and then detecting whether there are customers passing by through the background subtraction.(5)Recorded video retrieval and replaying module,which is used to combine the video with recorded time,so the operator can look over the surveillance video selectively.The video surveillance system in the paper is based on MFC and the serial communication module.Moving object detection module and video replaying module are carried out by programming with OpenCV library and the Active X.
