The analogy measuring instruments is still used widely because of their simplicity in structure and convenience in use cheapness in price, However, it takes inspector a lot of time and energy to calibrate a analogy measuring instrument. Appling technology of Image, Processing on the calibration of analogy measuring instrument and realizing automation, it would save time and energy, and it would improve the veracity of the measurement result and improve the efficiency of work. This paper introduces the developing and applying of technology of Image Processing, puts forward the project about the automatic calibration of analogy measuring instruments based on Image Processing, a method which has practical application is brought forward. On the base of dial characters, the circular or fan-shaped image of dial is converted into the rectangular image by coordinates translation, coordinates reversal and reference frame conversation. The information of positions of graduations and pointer are attained through line searching in the rectangular image. Reading of the analogy measuring instruments is recognized by way of comparing the information of positions. The experiment results show low recognition error can be got by the method and the method is simple. The precision of 85C1 analogy measuring instrument is 2.5, which is used in the experiment. For this kind of instrument the relative error of recognition is keeping 0.018%.In this paper, integral notion of method design is brought out at the beginning of the text. Secondly, detail technical information of module design is narrated in each chapter. At last part of paper, the method on resolving these problems are brought out, and some suggestions for method optimization are also provided.
