Robots based on biological mechanism of the orientation and color cognition,isthe further research on the basis of the retina of the robot。In this paper, based on principle and method of bionics,biological primaryvisual cortex to the color and orientation as the prototype of the cognitivemechanism,we accord the primary visual cortex of the robot structure and workingmechanism,to do the analysis and experimental study.After fully understanding thebiological structure of cognitive process of the orientation and color in the primaryvisual cortex and their information processing mechanism, the paper puts forwardthe design of software primary visual cortex and discovers some rules and theiridentical mathematical structures in biological vision system's cognitive process ofthe orientation and color. The main mathematical structures are as follows:1.In the cognitive process of the orientation,the functional relations from thesimplest cells to simple cells and relations with the target and the homology,respectively, constitute the category. And part of the functions constitute subcategory.The functional relations from simple cells to complex cells and itsrelationship with the target constitute the category. The conclusions reflect of all thefeatures of the system with the inter-relationship between the target andhomologous.2.In the process of the orientation cognitive , the timing chain and the causalchain between the system function and its parallel relations constitute the category.And part of the functional constitute sub-category.The relations response to such arelationship between cells in time and in connecting to the relationship .3.In the process of the orientation cognitive,simple-cell function and itscoupling relations constitute the category, the conclusion response to the nature ofsimple cell coupling between the coupling region.4.In the process of the orientation cognitive, the category of timing chain thecategory of causation chain between the function relationship is isomorphic, Thisreflects in the structure of the same.5.In the process of color perception,functions from the simplest cell to the doubleopponent-color cells and its relationship with the target areas, respectively,constitute the category,the conclusions reflect the function of the system ofrelations with the target.6.In the process of color perception, the timing chain and a causal chainbetween the system function and its parallel relationship constitute the category 7.In the process of color perception, the relationship of the timing chain categoryand the chain of causation category is isomorphic.These mathematical structures naturally reflect they have same characteristicsand processing of information between the biological primary visual cortex andRobot primary visual cortex,and provide guidance to the design of software and theprocess simulation of cognitive process information of the orientation and color.According to the composition of biological cognitive process system of theorientation and color and information processing mechanism as well as themathematical structure proposed in this paper, we establish the software primaryvisual cortex cognitive process system of the orientation and color, and doexperimental study on the its working mechanism. Experimental results show thatthe primary visual cortex system has the following nature:1.Through the research of the right value of simple cells, proved that the ratio of60:40 meet the bio-physiological characteristics of simple cells better.2.By the experimental study of the coupling relationship among simple cells,proved that the coupling between cells can improve the capability of the same kindof segment.3.By the research on simple cell whether it is ON or OFF, we proved that theseparation of ON and OFF guaranteed that the signal will not be confused in theprocess of down transmission.4.Four types of experiments of size-1,size-2 and size-3 simple cells showedthat they have accurate response on specific location and specific width. Size-4simple cells get better response for the obvious outline. These cells played a verygood results to different types of straight-line extraction.5.Through the experiment about the letter A in different position and differentwidth, We studied that the complex cell can react with the same type of straight-linewhich in different position and different width. Meanwhile we achieved good results.6.By the experimental research on antagonistic pairs of cells, we illustrated theimportant role in the field of color perception. Through the primary visual cortex ofthe biological mechanism of the functional part of the work simulation, it showedthat the color and shape based on the biological understanding of the primary visualcortex of the robot system can color, position of the basic visual information betterextraction, classification.The meanings of the work of academic value and practical significance of thispaper are as follows: This paper based on a comprehensive biological primaryvisual cortex visual neurons in many structures and functions, combined ofcognitive science, computer science, many disciplines, such as modernmathematical results, proposed a set of biometric-based orientation and color of theinitial cognitive approach. The method avoids to solve the problem from theperspective of algorithm, but to study biological systems, and applied the mechanism of the biological systems to visual perception system.This accesses toa good experiment result. The result of this paper approved that the technology thatbased on the biological characteristics of the orientation and color of cognitivetheory is effective, it worth to be further studied.
