With the rapid development of modern manufacturing engineering, coordinatemeasuring machines (CMM) are becoming the major inspection equipments in qualitycontrol system of manufacturing industryespecially automatic production.As themotion control part of the CMM, the motion control system is veryimportant to themotion and measuring of CMM.In order to keep the movement of the CMM motor, a multi-axis motion controlsystem is needed to connect the computer and the motor driver.Based on the analysis of the present motion control system, this thesis introduces aMulti-Axis Motion Control System of CMM, according to the characters and practicaluse of the CMM. We design the hardware circuit of the control system, using VerilogHDL Language programmed FPGA, and using C Language programmed Single ChipComputer. All above realize the function of that the multi-axis motion control system canmake the motor do as the computer tells and keep safety when it moves. And this systemhas a high accuracy. When it runs under the location module, the location error is only3 pulses. At last we did some experiments, the final results show that the system canmeet the requirement.The main content of the thesis is as follow.In the first chapter, it introduces of the development situation of the CMM and itsmotion control system, and also introduces the characters and development situationsof the present motion controllers.Then it introduces a few kinds of the latest motioncontrols and also introduces their advantages and disadvantages as well.After that, wefinallymake sure the whole plan and the functions of the control system.In the second chapter, we analyses the characters and the components of thecontrol system. Based on the analysis, we have designed the hardware circuit board ofmotor control. In this chapter, the thesis puts the point on the analysis of the functionintroduction of the circuit modules of motor control circuit board and also does manyintroductions of the chip choices.Chapter three is mainlyabout the programming parts. It introduces the functionrealizes of the most important FPGAmodules.And also there are some introductions about how to realize the function of speed control, location control and PID controlwith single chip computer programs.The chapter four is mainlyabout the motor motion accuracyexperiment.We didsome experiments and got the relevant data, and then we did some research on it.Thefinal result shows that the system has a high accuracyand instability.In the last chapter, we make a summeryof our system research, and also point outthe disadvantage of the system we have found when we do research on it.After thatwe give some advices on what to do next to the improvement of this system in thefuture research.
